The 2020 Reserve Petit Verdot may be the shining star of the 2020 vintage.  The vintage was very challenging due to spring frost destroying the primary fruit.  But this site pushed a second crop and through intense sampling, a delicate hand in processing and some good time to develop in the barrel it has become a gorgeous wine with a fabulous story.  This blend is a selection of the best ten barrels from the vintage.  It has a complex yet subtle bouquet of flowers and sage that encompass a core of dark blackberry, blackcurrant and plum that finishes with sweet tobacco. The wine is perfectly balanced with intense and concentrated fruit flavors the result of short vatting and pressed off on one of our latest season pressings on November 18th of 2020 as it aged for 26 months in 40% new French oak and 40% One-year French Oak barrels. Petit Verdot in our experience rejoices in new French oak that adds to the complexity and integration of the smooth and assertive tannins that fill the palate lingering into the long and sumptuous finish.
